Defying the cycle of the moon that binds all shape shifters, Lexi transforms into her alter ego in an attempt to flee from her sorrow and anguish. Little does she know that no matter how far or fast she runs, she can’t escape from her grief at being abandoned by her mate.
Locked in her werewolf form, it takes a catastrophe to force her to become human again. Stepping back into her normal life isn’t easy, but Lexi must set aside her personal problems when one of her friends goes missing during their next mission. The team needs her to step up and become an alpha in deed rather than just in name.
Even during her prolonged time spent as a werewolf, the vampirism has been insidiously spreading through her. The time is coming when Lexi will reach the point of no return. Soon, she will become the very thing that the Shifter Squad hunts down and destroys.
Snake Charmer Shifter Squad Book 6 eBook JC Diem
This book has a lot more going for it than the past two did, despite reoccuring problems. Which problems? 1. they're still ignoring the whole Lexie is turning into a vampire and her mother needs to die for her to be cured and 2. Reece is still just as wrong for her as ever. What does it have going for it? Well, Reece is barely in it, although the few times that he is he definitely doesn't do anything to redeem himself. So much for any hope that he's going to have to put some real effort into the relationship and proving himself a worthy partner for Lexie. With each passing book, he becomes less reliable, less admirable, and less of a hero. So it's nice that he's got very little presence in this book even if the times he does show up just gives readers even more reasons to dislike him.
Kala and Lexie's relationship is awesome. We find out a little bit more about Kala and Flynn's past, as well as the company that created them. I think there's definitely going to be some kind of showdown in the future and that's pretty exciting, because that company needs to get theirs. Sadly Flynn doesn't get a lot of book time on account of being kidnapped, but it's still great to see the team working together without Reece before that. Also, Marc is, as always, awesome. He's a better father to Lexie than her father has been, even if at the end of the book there's something a bit fishy going on.
There's action, there's friendship, there's all the GOOD things about Lexie coming back.
*SPOILERS BELOW*
I won't lie, I cheered when Reece and Lexie's bond finally broke. Her whole "I'll never find or love anyone else" mantra through the book was definitely getting annoying, but now the bond is broken and hopefully she'll get a bit of a turn around. It bothered me that she wasn't even willing to try to be attracted to any of the guys that showed interest in her. It bothered me even more at the end when Reece was a total douche. People are saying "oh something fishy is going on with his pack" yeah I still don't care. I've expressed in previous reviews my issues with his utter lack of compassion for Lexie, his moral failings, and his weakness as a person not to mention as a Hero. I don't believe that something has been completely controlling him since Day One, and he's been a total a$$hat since then so it would be hard to believe that it's all somehow miraculously not his fault. Just as hard as it is to believe that he and Lexie SHOULD have a HEA. Seriously, we've now got what... 3 books left in the series? Which meant that he's spend 2/3 of the series treating her like $h!t? The only thing I'm cheering for when it comes to their romance is for Lexie to find someone else.

Snake Charmer Shifter Squad Book 6 eBook JC Diem Reviews
Lexi has had more torture and hardship than any 18 year old should have and her life still only has more heartache ahead. Irrevocably losing her soul mate, Levi has to face her lonely life and become the alpha her squad needs. Great book!
Ask I can say, is that I HATE Reece!!! He is the scrum on the bottom of your shoe when you walk through a cow field. Poor Lexie. Anyways, as usual the book kept you interested and your emotions running high. I cannot wait until the next book, I hated the cliffhanger, UGH!!
I like Lexi shes awesome. I think Reece is an idiot and I think someone is controlling him.he isn't in the book much tho. Which is good because he makes u wana just punch something.
These books keep me so interested. I haven't wanted to put one down yet. Sometimes when reading so many books in one series you occasionally need a break from the next but not these, they continue from one to the next so it's like reading one continuous book. I love it.
Once again a could be interesting story killed with the on going oh poor me he doesn't want me pity party. It was a struggle to finally finish this one with the wah wah wah boohoo poor me crap over & over & over all through the book. I'm not sure which one is worse, the last book or this one. Pretty much the whole series after the first book ruined with the constant poor me pity party crap. If you can put up with that the actual story is interesting.
I had preordered this book and it popped up on my kindle right before bed time; who needs sleep? I was quickly drawn in to Lexi's world. J.C. Diem does a great job of making you feel the pain and heartache that our heroine is experiencing. The story moved along at a good pace and we get a few more clues about the bigger enemies of the story. I am unclear how the author will be able to salvage any relationship between Lexi and Reese/Garrett at this point unless he suffers...a lot. My hope is that Lexi continues to grow and the author does not allow her to be a stereotype where love is concerned.
I know this book ended on a down note, but I'm actually more optimistic than I was after reading book five. I was happy to see Lexi get some of her backbone back, although I would have preferred if she had resolved on getting over Reese and moving on. Reese is still an a**hole, but I think the author is moving towards excusing his behavior. Hopefully she'll make him suffer for at least most of the book before he's back in Lexi's good graces. I did like some of the new characters and even thought one would be good competition against Reese for Lexi's affections (and I'm not talking about the guy from her past who was barely a blip in this book). I'm actually not sorry about what happened at the end of this book. I think it was fitting and just what Reese deserved. Overall, I think the storyline was more interesting and the characters more developed than in book five. I feel more hope for this series than I have since book three. Here's hoping book seven will live up to expectations!
